Big Jim Roxburgh was in my class at Leith Academy and we played together in the hockey and rugby teams .Big strong jovial lad . Sad to hear of his passing . r.i.p. That school was brilliant and it brings back fantastic memories to read some of the entries by F.P.'s. Kind regards to all.

Hello As part of my family research I am trying to find someone who may well have attended Leith School. Her first name was Hilary and her mother's name was Ella or a variation of that name. Hilary was born about 1951 possibly in the Edinburgh area (her father John Grant Payne) resided at No.s 6 or 8 Springfield Street, Leith Edinburgh. Hilary would have attended the school during the 1950's - 1960's I guess. I have cinefilm of Hilary's father John Grant Payne visiting over from the US in 1962, and Hilary had short black hair. Unfortunately I don't have a surname yet but if anyone at all even recognises this information please don't hesitate to contact me on my e-mail address. Kind regards Barrie Mitchell

Just though I would post a note here on the demise of Jim Roxburgh, who to me was one of the school's outstanding characters. Didn't mix with him much at school, but a couple of years after met on a hockey pitch and became good friends for the next 35 years. Jim sadly died of a heart attack 22/03/12

I am a former pupil of Leith Academy and left school in 1959. My wife, Dorothy Homewood (nee Harcus) was Elspeth Boyle's (nee Clark) very best friend. Elspeth went to Belfast to nurse and met her husband Dr David Boyle. After many bombing alerts there they emigrated to Canada. Thereafter they had two children Ian and Tori. My wife kept contact by Christmas card but somehow lost touch possibly changes of address. My e-mail address is bobhomewood2000@yahoo.co.uk. I would love to get in touch with her does anybody know where she stays or her e-mail address. Her brother was Ian Clark.

Too many names to remember but anyone who played rugby in years 1 to 5 or hockey in 6th year, all those involved in volleyball and fencing a big Hey! Moved out of Edinburgh in 1984 and been living in Dubai since 2005. Some names to recall:- Arthur Mathieson, Billy Bell, Kevin Bass, Ralph Birch, Ronnie Baxter, James Leadbetter, Les Moyes (sadly died about 7 years ago), Isabelle Kerr, Sylvia Durrand, Marjory Fleming, Maureen Crease .....
