While we aim to make this site as accessible as possible our efforts are often limited
by time and/or lack of expertise.
If you are experiencing difficulty reading the site there are a couple of ways you
may be able to improve readability for yourself. ( These tips are based on a PC
running Internet Explorer 6; please refer to your browser's Help file if you these
tips do not apply to your system set-up).
To Change the Size of text
|
|
You can change the default text size displayed on web pages in Internet Explorer
by selecting View>Text Size from the menu.
(This action on its own may have minimal effect for sites which use style-sheets
to control layout )
|
 |
Use Internet Explorer's Accessibility features
|
|
Access Internet Explorer's Accessibility features by opening the Tools
menu and selecting Internet Options.
Accesibility features are located at the bottom of the General
tab.
Colors
Allows you to change the default text and background colour of web pages.
(Some Dyslexia sufferers find text easier to read on a cream or blue background.
There are no hard and fast rules and some experimentation may be required).
Fonts
Allows you to change the default font used to display text in your browser.
(sans-serif can often improve the readability of online text for dyslexia sufferers)

Use an Accessibility Style-sheet
|
|
Style sheets are used by web designers to control how pages are displayed in your
browser. Internet Explorer and most other browsers let you substitute your own style
sheet instead to over-ride these settings.
This may not seem particularly useful if you have no idea what a style sheet looks
like or how to get one (IExplorer does not provide a set of accessibility style
sheets of its own), so we've provided a basic accessibility style sheet for you
to download if you wish.
Note; This style-sheet is designed for general accessibility. While using it should
improve readability of most sites results may vary.
